About Krav Maga Global
Krav Maga is suitable for everyone, regardless of age and gender, and all techniques can be performed without much regard for clothes, shoes or other things that the practitioner may be wearing. In the same way, the environment has no major significance for which technology is used.
The system was officially developed in Israel by Imi Lichtenfeld under realistic conditions and in real-life situations. This means there’s no magic or mystery – just effective self-defence. Today, Krav Maga continues to evolve under the guidance of Eyal Yanilov, Imi’s chosen successor.
The solutions within Krav Maga are constantly tested, adjusted, and refined to address the most relevant threats and attacks of today. The system is used by numerous professional authorities and institutions worldwide.
Krav Maga Global (KMG)
Krav Maga Global (KMG) originates from the authentic self-defence system created by Imi Lichtenfeld. In the 1940s, it was used exclusively by the Israeli military, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF). During the 1960s, the system was adapted for civilian use and has since spread worldwide.
It is a practical and tactical self-defence system that teaches you how to prevent, handle, and overcome all types of threats and violence. Krav Maga is characterised by its simplicity, natural movements, and effectiveness, and is regarded as one of the most modern and solution-oriented self-defence systems today.
Krav Maga is trusted and utilised by various organisations worldwide, including:
The Israeli Military (IDF), Police forces in Israel, the USA, the UK, Finland, and Sweden, FBI, CIA, and DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency), US Coast Guard, Finnish Paratroopers and Military Police, Serbian Counter-Terror Units and many more. Through training, Krav Maga teaches practitioners to perceive and react to potentially dangerous situations, enabling them to maintain control over themselves, their opponents, and their surroundings. Krav Maga prepares practitioners for all conceivable scenarios and teaches them to utilize their environment to their advantage. Mental preparedness, conflict management, and handling high-stress situations are extensively trained, as these elements are essential for the skills to be effective in real-life situations.
Krav Maga is divided into four categories:
-
Civilian
-
Law Enforcement
-
Military
-
Personal Protection (V.I.P).
As a professional user of Krav Maga (police, military, personal protection), training includes:
-
Tactical use of protective weapons such as knives, batons, tear gas/pepper spray, etc.
-
Close combat and spontaneous situations where the use of weapons is not possible/legal/desirable.
-
Grips, throws, locks, and the control and transport of suspects or detainees.
-
Searching individuals, vehicles, buildings, and terrain.
-
Israeli tactical protection as a supplement to already established solutions.
-
Anti-terrorism methods and hostage situations.
-
Tactical and progressive driving.
In general, all Krav Maga practitioners train in the same fundamental techniques regardless of the branch they belong to. The focus is on methodology—how situations should be handled to achieve the desired outcome.
